Das Auto

Can you guess what make of car? Hmmm…
It was also very rainy yesterday, and I didn’t feel like drawing the rain, OK?

Stop light from Lamyx on Lakeshore

I really love how Danny G uses such a loose and free line when drawing. This was my attempt today. I’m getting there, but still to much control, I think.

Trashcan with a flower pot

I thought this was an interesting pairing. Maybe if the flower pot had flowers or a plant it would help. On the corner of Central and Park in Alameda.

Ornate Teapot

I found this teapot at Peet’s, then I drew it. What I like is that it looks like a teapot, yet not EXACTLY the teapot that was in front of me.

Across the street from Peet’s on Park in Alameda, 01.15.08

dg-tree-detailed

It was time to do a more detailed drawing from The Creative License book. I was allowed to eye things up this time and look at what I was drawing. After the tree I wanted to quit, though I managed to fight the urge and follow through. I’m glad I did!

Shelf

This was at first frustrating and then really neat to finish. Another assignment from The Creative License book where there is very little—and more opportunity to start looking at what I’m drawing.

This was a book shelf at Javarama in Alameda.

Negative Space study

Another assignment where we can’t really look at the page and then draw the negative space around the objects to create the image. This was fun and I like the graphic nature of how it turned out.

Bagel

Another assignment where I can look at the page every now and again. The idea being that you draw what you see, and not use your left brain to calculate. Emmm…bagels…

Mug

I had to draw a mug without looking at the page. It was hard not to look and to make such an ugly (or is it?) drawing of a mug. This is one of the assignments from The Creative License book by Danny Gregory.
